Those of you who know Spencer well know that this is so out of character for him. He is a very picky sleeper and will only go to bed in his bed with puppy, bear, his favorite blanket and a sippy cup. If any one of those elements is missing we know it's going to be a rough night. This night however I told him he needed to finish his dinner and left the room for awhile. After a few minutes the quite made me nervous and this is how I found him. Right after I took this his head bobbed back and hit the chair and then he almost fell out of the chair. I was laughing so hard. This was at 5:30 pm and he slept until 7:30 the next morning.

To My Surprise
The warm weather has been well received up here in Logan. We love our apartment because of the great backyard. Spencer has spent some quality little boy time with his dump truck in the garden.
All that time in the sun must have worn him out because this is what happened that night.

Growin' Owen
Owen is so much fun lately. It is so easy to make him smile and giggle. I can't get enough of that little grin.
Brainwashed or Potty Trained?
A couple of weeks ago Spencer got this movie from the library. He totally fell in love with it and asked to watch it about 5 times a day. Well, a couple of days later he woke up in the morning and told us that he needed to go potty...and he did. There has been no turning back. I am not going to lie to you it was a really hard week but for the most part he seems to have it. #1 no problem, #2 still scares him a little and it takes some coaching but I am thrilled to not have to buy any more diapers for him. We checked "the movie" out again this week just to make sure he doesn't lose the motivation and we have now seen it so many times that Scott and I can sing all the songs for you almost word for word.
What is potty training without a couple good accidents though right? Well, last week we had to leave story time at the library early because he totally soaked his pants. He was so uncomfortable that he looked like an ashamed drunken sailor as we walked to the bathroom. I didn't have a change of clothes do he ended up wearing Owens blanked around his waist as we walked out to the car. Another time we were at A&W when again the excitement threw him off his game. We stood outside the bathroom door waiting for our turn as a nice older guy came around the corner and noticed the problem. He was so sweet and gave Spencer a little pep talk as we waited. We have been giving Spencer one jelly bean for pee and two for poop. On Sunday when we got home from church he said, "Mom, I need a treat...wait...I mean I need to go potty." The kid has learned to work the system. Somewhere between the jelly beans and the movie we either brainwashed him or potty trained him.

Blessing Day
Owen's blessing was last Sunday and it was a wonderful day! It started off a little crazy because there just happened to be a huge snow storm that hit Cache Valley just as most of our family was making their way through Sardine Canyon. I could tell it was bad by the totally stressed out faces of each family as they came and sat down in the chapel. Everyone made it safely and I was so grateful to have them there on that special day for our family. Nate and Dave's families were missed but we understand it would have been a terrible commute.
Luckily Owen's blessing outfit ran large and it still fit because most of his 0-3 month clothes aren't fitting anymore. The blessing was beautiful. The time spent with family was priceless. I think I appreciated it so much more since we have been a little further away from them and miss most get togethers. It was the first time in our married life that we actually had a place big enough to host and it was totally enjoyable. Thanks again for coming Fam!

Picture Update
These pictures are in no particular order but just a few of my favorites from the last few weeks. I love bath time now that his cord is finally off. Spencer loves to help and I love washing all those chubby rolls.
Spencer is such a great brother. He is so gentle with Owen and always willing to help out. Now if I could just figure out how to stop all the whining. Poor kid is going through some serious attention withdrawal.
They grow so fast and I really want to make sure I am enjoying this time with my sweet baby so no complaints here about the lost sleep, it's well worth it.

This picture needs a little explanation. This was our first outing after Owen came. We went down to my Brother-in-laws house for dinner and it was so nice to get out. I swear I packed half of Owens room to make sure we were ready for anything. What do you know but Spencer was the one who decided to have a blow out and we didn't pack extra clothes for him. Half joking I pulled out Owens extra clothes and lucky for us our little Spencer was able to wear Owens pants home. That's right he is sporting newborn size pants/shorts. Lesson learned: You can't be ready for everything so just be willing to improvise.
This is Owen and his cousin Parson. They are two weeks apart but I can't believe the difference in size. One day I am sure they will be best buds!

After almost 8 weeks I am finally starting to feel like I might be able to be a functioning person again. Yesterday I did the grocery shopping all by myself with Owen in the Snuggli and Owen in the cart it worked great. For the first time in my life I said yes when the bagger offered to help me to my car. I love Maceys! Owen sleeps from 9 pm to 3 am every night and is obviously doing great with nursing. Life is good.
